Each year we celebrate a wonderful year of discovery with every dollar raised supporting staff and activities in the SDDC Exhibit Hall, a science playground for ALL to enjoy!
Join the generations of children, and adults, who have grown up with greater access to hands-on learning and fun, support the South Dakota Discovery Center! At Best for Last, you get to enjoy delicious local vittles and play in the SDDC Exhibit Hall, plus ticket purchasers get the chance to win fabulous prizes, including a 1 in 253 chance at $10,000. What is Best for Last?

Please note that Best for Last is for those aged 21+. Ages 3-12 childcare is available to ticket purchasers, located in the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce Community Room.
THE BASICS:
You buy a reverse-raffle ticket and enter into the reverse raffle for a one in 253 chances to win $10,000! Just want to watch? Get a Friend Pass and join in for delicious food and beverages supplied by local vendors!
WHAT IS A REVERSE RAFFLE?
Our Best for Last reverse-raffle begins with 250 tickets in the drawing, and the last one drawn wins the grand prize. . . . but it is more exciting than just watching names get drawn. Additional prizes are given every 25 tickets, you get FREE food and beverages and:
- When nine tickets remain in the drawing, we draw one Loser’s Boost ticket holder to go back in the drawing (in other words, they get one more chance at $10,000!).
- Once eight tickets remain in the drawing, two bonus tickets are auctioned off to get back into the race! Adrenaline runs high as bids come in!
- When only five tickets remain, those still in the drawing get to negotiate! Will they split the $10,000 or will the next ticket be eliminated? ALL remaining ticket holders must agree to split, or the drawing continues.
- Negotiation proceeds until the final ticket holders agree to split the grand prize or only one ticket holder remains—the best for last.
Ticket holders do not have to be present to win, BUT the final five must be available to negotiate in-person or via phone.
TICKET OPTIONS:
$125, Raffle Ticket
- Includes food, beverages, and a chance at fabulous raffle prizes and the grand-prize of $10,000. Please indicate whether you will be attending the event in-person at the time of purchase.

$25, Loser's Boost
- Be a "lucky loser," when only nine tickets remain in the drawing, this is your chance to get back into running for the $10,000 grand prize. Can only be purchased by a Raffle Ticket holder.
$75, Friend Pass
- Friends are welcome at the biggest celebration of the year! The Friend pass helps support the event, where you get amazing food and beverages provided by local vendors. This ticket does not include a chance at the fabulous raffle prizes or $10,000 grand prize.
$20, Childcare (per child, ages 3-12)
- Take advantage of our childcare service during Best for Last! From 5:15-8:00pm care for children ages 3-12 is available in the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce Community Room for $20 per child. Can only be purchased by a Raffle Ticket holder.

- Limited to 5 sponsor spots.
