SDDC Weather Policy

Due to the state of our iconic but aged building, we may close the Exhibit Hall for a variety of weather events. This may in turn cancel events, birthday parties, and/or other programs. Please check our social media or Events Calendar or email info@sd-discovery.org before your visit to ensure we are open safely that day! 

Snow

If local school districts are closed due to weather, the South Dakota Discovery Center Exhibit Hall will also be closed. Snow melt also has the potential to cause flooding, if this occurs and is a safety hazard to visitors the South Dakota Discovery Center Exhibit Hall will be closed or we will announce a late start to ensure visitor safety.

Rain

If local school districts are closed due to weather, the South Dakota Discovery Center Exhibit Hall will also be closed. Heavy rainfall also has the potential to cause flooding, if this occurs and is a safety hazard to visitors the South Dakota Discovery Center Exhibit Hall will be closed or we will announce a late start to ensure visitor safety.

Extreme Temperatures
